In 1974, Hardy Good and two business associates created an innovative new insurance product to provide protection for people who rented self-storage space. This product, known as customer storage insurance, was the first in a line of quality products and services designed specifically for the self-storage industry.

Publications
In 1979, MiniCo debuted the Mini-Storage Messenger magazine, the original and most highly respected trade publication covering the self-storage industry. With over 6,000 paid subscribers nationwide and overseas, the Mini-Storage Messenger has developed into a vital resource for self-storage professionals worldwide. The MiniCo portfolio of publications also includes the bimonthly Self-Storage Now! magazine as well as the annual Self-Storage Almanac – the industry’s first and only statistical reference – the Development Handbook, and Buyer’s Guide, which have all become valued industry resources. |
Self-Storage Overseas
In 2002, MiniCo, Inc. opened a self-storage facility overseas. MiniCo Self-Storage, located in Hong Kong , was the first American-style self-storage business to open in that country. Its success has led to the opening of a second location and helps prove that self-storage is indeed a concept with worldwide potential. |

Tenant Screening
In 2005, MiniCo formed a partnership with TransUnion to offer tenant screening products to self-storage businesses. For a nominal transaction fee, self-storage managers have access to detailed criminal and credit background checks for prospective tenants through the Storage Screening program.
